The opening you see here was caused by some damage to the tree while alive. The edges of the opening show the healing process of the tree. Inside this section was a dead area that I turned away.Note the top of the opening. Both sides have "hooks" that were very scarry when hand sanding, finishing and buffing. As they spun at me, the left hand side would hook my cloth, and fingers if not careful.
